Cross Stitch Wedding Keepsake

My brother got married in October. I made him and his wife a special cross stitch wedding keepsake. I added charms for good luck. A key, acorn and a little bird.
It was a beautiful wedding. Congratulations.

Cross Stitcher

My mum brought me this magazine.
It contains some beautiful patterns. I love everyone of them. Particularly the Belle and Boo pattern. As with many cross stitch magazines it came with a free kit. A snowflake garland that was stitched onto cardboard stars.
It's very effective and pretty. It will look nice on the Christmas tree.

Bird Cot Quilt

I am slowly working through my large pile of UFO's. Attempting without sucess not to start anything new. This quilt was one of the UFO's. I quilted it in January and just needed to sew the binding down.

One UFO down, who knows how many more are in the pile?

Knitting for Baby

I cant remember when I finished these but here they finally are to show you. Two baby cardigans from a Panda book called 'Adorable Baby Knits.'
The white one is the 3 month size and the blue one the 6 month size. I love knitting with baby wool. It's so soft and fine. The only trouble is the time it takes to knit even a small garment.
But the results are worth it. Happy knitting.

Baby Vest

Where did September go? I blinked and missed it. I was looking on Ravelry for baby knits to use some beautiful rainbow yarn I got at last years Bendigo Wool Show. I found a vest pattern by Sam Lamb. I loved it and decided to give it a go. It used a few techniques new to me. Knitting from the top down without side seams and making raglan sleeves. The pattern was great, the instructions were very clear and it knitted up quickly. I think I finished it in 3 days. I did not quite have enough yarn to complete it all in rainbow so I used some contrast on the bottom band and the selves.
I had previously knitted a hat out of the rainbow yarn using a Debbi Bliss pattern. It makes a cute outfit.
Happy knitting.

Craft Fair 2012

In late July, Mum, my little one and I went to the craft fair. It's become a yearly event for us and we had a ball. I love seeing all the new products. I also find all the creative people exhibiting inspiring. Below are my purchases for this year.
I have started the crochet blanket and can't wait to finish it.

WIP Wednesday

Welcome to WIP Wednesday (also known as work in progress Wednesday). In my new role as a mama I am finding that I am very time poor. I can snatch a few minutes of crafting here and there on some days, but others are a total write off. In an effort to stay connected to craft and my blog I'm going to try and show you a taster of what I'm currently working on.

Today is a quilt for my little one.

2012 Beanie Festival Update

The 2012 beanie festival was a success for Alice Springs and for me. I sold 7 of the 10 beanies that I sent this year. The 3 unsold beanies were the bubble beret, sorbet stripes and yellow lace. Beanie makers can choose to have their unsold beanies sent back to them or to donate them to the festival to be given to people who need one. I choose to donate my unsold beanies. I hope they can help to keep someone a bit warmer.

10 Beanies for the Beanie Festivle

The Alice Springs Beanie Festival is on again next month. If you ever get a chance, go to it, its fantastic. Last year I sent 10 beanies to sell and sold 8 of them. I wanted to try and send the maximum 10 again this year. Buit my life is pretty busy and full on at the moment and I was not sure I would make it. But last week, I completed my 10th and sent them off. Here they are...
10 Beanies!
The Galah
Sorbet Stripes
Granny
Desert Sweet Pea
Bubble Beret
Fancy Fairisle
Candy Bonnet
Pink Hearts
Bad Hair Day
Yellow Lace
I am pleased with them and have tried to make them a little different. Fingers crossed some of them sell. I think I should start knitting next years now.

Another Book Bag

The daughter of some friends is turning 3. I have made her a book bag and we will give it to her with this fun book. I find a book bag is a great gift for children. This is the third one I have made like this. I make them big enough to fit in large children's picture books and a toy or two.

Quick Decorating Project

We were given these frames as part of a present.
I knew that I wanted to put some animal pictures in them. But sourcing pictures with when you are a bit busy is challenging. I was walking past a local newsagent and saw this book for $4.00 on the bargain table with the farm animal pictures perfectly matched in colour.
I don't usually cut up books.
But I now have a much brighter wall.
Overall a quick and inexpensive decorating project.

Small Quilt

I completed this small quilt early January. It's approximately 40 inches by 40 inches and simply quilted in straight lines diagonally across each square. I have had the animal fabrics in my stash for a while. I love them and wanted to make something special with them. The red and blue is fabric I tried to match and was purchased at Gail B.
I love how the colours have come together and are very happy with the results.

Crafty Corners of my Home: #1

I have been a little busy for the last few months and have not had time to do anything much, other than care for a very special little person. Crafting has taken a necessary back seat during this time. However I have managed a few minutes of crafting here and there. I have a few completed projects ready for posting but have not found time to photograph them. I hope to show you these projects soon. In the meantime here is a photograph of my African violet in a mosaic pot a made a few years ago. It flowered really well this year.

Book Bag

Our youngest nephew is turning 1 in a couple of weeks. For his birthday we have brought him some books and I have made him a book bag. Happy birthday little man.
